Job Title
Supervise students at a middle school, high school, or adult school during assigned periods before, during, and after school to enforce health, safety, and security policies, monitor student conduct, and maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Patrols assigned areas of campus during assigned periods (e.g. passing periods, nutrition/lunch breaks, etc.) including but not limited to front/back of school, outer/inner quad, cafeteria/patio, restrooms, hallways, locker rooms, athletic fields, performance venues, gates, and parking lots to monitor student conduct, attend to student needs, ensure compliance with established rules and guidelines, and maintain order and safety.
- Ensures the timely arrival/return of students to class before school and after passing periods, lunch, and break periods in accordance with established guidelines.
- Responds to a variety of situations (e.g. accidents, injuries, vandalism, alarms, drugs/alcohol, weapons, theft, emergency situations) to take appropriate action to resolve immediate safety and security concerns; takes action to prevent or stop students from engaging in unsafe activities according to established guidelines.
- Engages in conflict management according to established protocols and promptly alerts administration of physical altercations to minimize disruption of campus activities and prevent injury to involved parties.
- Reports injuries, safety hazards, altercations, unusual behavior, and other incidents to appropriate site personnel in accordance with established guidelines.
- Escorts students to the administration office for disciplinary action as necessary in accordance with established guidelines.
- Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students and visitors to ensure their understanding of such information and the potential consequences of violation.
- Verifies student and visitor passes to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering campus and to ensure students have proper authorization to leave campus; refers visitors to the administration office to follow proper sign-in procedures; escorts students without proper authorization to the administration office or other designated location in accordance with established guidelines.
- Monitors parking lots to direct traffic flow and enforce proper parking procedures; issues referrals to students who park illegally or drive in a dangerous manner in a parking lot.
- Conducts crowd control at school events (e.g. assemblies, sporting events, performances).
- Monitors students in detention and in-house suspension under the supervision of a site administrator.
- Assists with evacuation, fire, and lockdown drills to ensure the orderly movement of students from classrooms to designated meeting locations.
- May wipe tables and benches in cafeteria and outside eating areas.
- May assist students who have problems with lockers.
A high school diploma or GED and experience working with groups of middle and high school age children in an organized environment are preferred.

Requires the ability to:
- Proactively patrol assigned areas of campus
- Remain alert at all times and pay attention to detail while supervising and monitoring students' behavior and campus activities
- Understand and attend to the physical, social, and emotional needs of elementary school students
- Exercise patience, confidence, and authority when supervising and giving directions to students
- Exercise good judgment in campus supervision and discern which situations should be referred to a teacher, administrator, or other relevant staff
