Site Director

To ensure high-quality programming while maintaining financial sustainability, staffing structures are determined by site enrollment and program needs. The YMCA uses the following general staffing model:

  • Sites with fewer than 40 enrolled children:
Programs are overseen by an Assistant Site Director who serves as the primary on-site supervisor and is supported by an assigned Site Director mentor.
  • Sites with 50–70 enrolled children:
Programs are overseen by a Site Director serving as the primary on-site leader. The Site Director may also be assigned to mentor an Assistant Site Director at another location, based on operational needs.
  • Sites with more than 70 enrolled children:
Programs are staffed by both a Site Director and an Assistant Site Director working together on-site to support daily operations and staff supervision.

Staffing assignments may adjust based on enrollment fluctuations, licensing requirements, and program needs.

The Site Director provides leadership for one or more after-school childcare programs based on enrollment and operational needs. This role directly oversees larger enrollment sites and serves as a mentor and supervisor to Assistant Site Directors assigned to smaller locations. The Site Director ensures consistent program quality, staff development, regulatory compliance, and implementation of association-wide curriculum while fostering positive relationships with families, school partners, and staff.

  • Leads the daily operation of assigned large-enrollment sites and provides supervisory oversight to assigned Assistant Site Directors at smaller locations.
  • Trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates staff, including conducting regular check-ins and performance feedback.
  • Provides ongoing mentoring, coaching, and professional development support to Assistant Site Directors.
  • Ensures compliance with California Community Care Licensing regulations and YMCA policies across assigned sites.
  • Leads collaborative curriculum planning efforts and ensures consistent implementation across all supervised locations.
  • Oversees program planning, staffing models, and enrollment-based operational decisions.
  • Maintains strong relationships with parents, children, school personnel, and community partners.
  • Oversees accurate attendance, documentation, reporting, and administrative requirements.
  • Manages program budgets at assigned sites, including purchasing supplies and materials within budget guidelines.
  • Conducts site visits and operational check-ins at supervised locations to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Attends and leads staff meetings, trainings, family events, YMCA campaign activities, and special events as assigned.
  • Ensures a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment that reflects YMCA values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned based on program needs.
