Responsibilities
The Engineering Development Technician IV is part of a design team focused on the development of the next generation UAV systems and their subsystems. This includes all levels and facets of design from conceptual clearance through detailed design and involves building and testing of these systems. Candidates must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree.
- Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check‑out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro‑mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices, or specialized test equipment.
- Performs programming in CAM and operating of CNC milling 3‑axis to 5‑axis machines.
- Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts, or defined plans to perform testing, checkout, and trouble‑shooting functions.
- Design work shall be accomplished using CAD tools (Solid Works), simulation tools (Solid Works Simulation, ANSYS), and rapid prototyping techniques (3D printing, etc.).
- Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment, assisting in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
- Assists in the design, construction, test, and check‑out of test equipment.
- Uses manufacturing, test, development, or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and specialized test apparatus.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent; must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree.
- 2–4 years of related experience.
- 5+ years of current experience using CAM tools (Master Cam, Surfcam, HSM).
- Experience operating CNC vertical machines.
- Demonstrated competence in mechanical engineering processes and design/analysis tools.
- Experience with and understanding of schematics, diagrams, and defined plans for testing.
- Proficiency with Solid Works.
- Proficiency with MS Office and other office productivity tools.
- Experience with Solid Works EPDM (preferred).
- Experience designing tooling or test equipment (preferred).
- Ability to solve basic structural dynamics problems.
- Understanding of engineering configuration management processes and material properties.
- Understanding of environmental testing, including shock and vibration.
- Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment and work effectively in small teams.
- Strong initiative, ownership, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Team‑first mindset.
- Required to work in an office and production environment continuously.
- Required to sit and stand for long periods; frequent use of hands, fingers, and the ability to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
$31,000 – $44,000 per annum.

This position requires access to information subject to compliance with the International Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
