ATC Automation is seeking a Business Unit Manager
. This is an onsite role located in Simi Valley, CA. In this role, you will manage all aspects of mechanical and electrical design, assembly, wiring, testing/debug, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) associated with the production of Capital Equipment for our customers.

This is a senior‑level position, capable of managing internal personnel of up to 26 team members, vendors, customer relationships, the generation of and maintaining project timelines, cost and time estimations, and profit/loss management. The ideal candidate would possess the following traits as a minimum: independent thinking, strong conceptual skills, strong understanding of machining fundamentals and material properties, excellent communication skills both verbal and written, the ability to present engineering concepts in an effective manner to customers and peers, effective at time management, budgetary awareness, strong decision‑making capabilities, excellent leadership skills, conflict resolution skills, and the ability and desire to mentor.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Manage and lead the efforts of a Mechanical Design group within your team.
  • Manage and lead the efforts of a Controls Design group within your team.
  • Vendor management.
  • Manage all aspects of machine assembly.
  • Assist in troubleshooting, FAT and SAT efforts.
  • Required travel up to 10% annually to meet with our customers and a valid driver’s license.
  • Create MS Project timelines.
  • Forecast and track project timelines, manpower allocations, and cash forecasting.
  • Assist in recruitment efforts to onboard new employees.

    Resolve conflict among team members as well as customers.
  • Manage multiple projects at various stages of completion.
  • Communicate to General Manager and others as needed on the status of projects, including projections for financial profit or loss.
  • Create Project Change Notices (PCN’s) – quotes for scope changes, additions, credits, etc. for existing projects.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
Basic Requirements
  • Read and understand documents, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Professional communications and interactions with customers and employees.
  • Communicate information in a clear and concise manner, including speaking and presenting.
  • Knowledge in financial acumen.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Solid Works.
  • Proficient in mathematics and problem solving.
Physical Demands and Conditions
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to floor.
  • Climb ladders and work at heights of up to 35 feet.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in various conditions.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, moving/rotating equipment, fumes, dust, oil, and other fluids.
  • Exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
  • Exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently.

    Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Visual acuity:
    Near acuity with or without accommodation.
  • Hearing ability:
    Monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose.
Education/Training
  • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology (preferred).
  • Associate’s degree in mechanical engineering technology.
Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a management or leadership role in a manufacturing or automation environment. Preferably 5+ years.
