ResponsibilitiesAs a direct report to the Engineering Director, the Project Engineer is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing, and controlling a variety of engineering, research, development, and design activities related to customer specifications to ensure company business goals and customer requirements are met within cost and on schedule. The Project Engineer may have Junior Engineers supporting them.
Projects will include, but are not limited to: new product development, RSA IP designs, build‑to‑print, design to spec, and other relevant design activities. The Design Engineering Manager will ensure completion of projects from the Request for Proposal (RFP) phase through contract award, detailed design, design validation/certification, initial production, and sustaining engineering efforts.
- Organize and schedule engineering activities to ensure they are completed on schedule and within cost.
- Execute and generate aircraft certification documentation, including design calculation reports, test procedures, test reports, 3D modeling, 2D engineering drawings, engineering orders, etc.
- Peer‑review detailed design activities, including manufacturing drawing review, stress analysis, project schedules, etc.
- May require support of junior engineers.
- Ensure design compliance with customer requirements.
- Schedule design reviews, meetings, and interdepartmental presentations to ensure design points are understood and are concurrent with other organizational activities.
- Take a "hands‑on" approach.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- This role must be on‑site 5 days a week at the Simi Valley, CA location.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering). Advanced degree preferred.
- Broad engineering skills with preferred experience in aircraft/aerospace design, structural analysis, and product development.
- 1–3+ years of experience in metallic or composite ducting and motion compensator design per ARP 699 guidelines as a Project/Systems Engineer, or equivalent experience in ECS (Environmental Control System), bleed air, or AMS (air management system) component design.
- Experience in industries such as valves (pneumatic or electro‑mechanical), heat exchangers, turbo machinery, fuel tank inert systems, wing‑anti‑ice systems, ram air systems, high/low pressure pneumatic systems, and structural design.
- Proficiency with FEA/FEM tools such as MSC Nastran/PATRAN, ANSYS, ATA NASTRAN/FEMAP.
- Experience with aircraft certification to EASA, Transport Canada, and/or FAA 14 CFR FAR 25 requirements.
- Experience from program award (kick‑off) to milestones such as PDR, CDR, PRR, SOF, and EIS.
- Knowledge of project management skills with experience working with internal or external customers and resources.
- Experience writing certification documentation (ATP, QTP, QTR, etc.).
- Test experience per RTCA‑DO/190 or MIL‑STD‑810 (vibration and environmental tests).
- Ability to multi‑task and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to read and support the creation of 3D models and 2D drawings with dimensioning and tolerance per ANSI/ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Support the manufacturing team during product development, initial design for manufacturability, and redesigns as required.
- Understanding of industry specifications such as MIL, AN, MS, NAS, ASTM, AMS.
- Preferred experience with sheet metal and/or composite manufacturing/forming processes.
- Preferred experience with CAD software (CATIA V5 or Solid Works).
- Preferred test experience with LabVIEW data acquisition/control VIs.
- 25% or less travel.
