Our Simi Valley facility serves as the company's primary engineering, manufacturing, testing, and integration center. Teams at this location design and develop next-generation motor controllers, embedded electronic systems, and motion control technologies supporting some of the worlds most advanced aerospace, defense, and space exploration programs.
We serve customers across space exploration, aerospace, defense, military systems, robotics, aviation, industrial automation, automotive, and agricultural technology markets.
The Electrical Engineering team currently consists of 5 engineers and is actively expanding to 8 engineers as the company continues to grow its portfolio of cutting-edge aerospace, defense, and space technologies.
The Principal Electrical Engineer will serve as the technical leader for embedded hardware and motor control development efforts, driving innovative solutions from concept through production for advanced aerospace, defense, and space systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture, development, integration, and validation of embedded electronic systems, including microcontroller-based analog and digital hardware platforms used in aerospace, defense, and space applications.
- Drive the design and implementation of advanced motor control electronics utilizing power conversion technologies, including IGBTs, MOSFETs, current sensing circuits, and ruggedized servo control systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the Electrical Engineering team, guiding design reviews, root cause investigations, hardware releases, and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate directly with customers, program managers, software engineers, and cross-functional teams to translate mission requirements into high-performance electrical and embedded system solutions.
- Lead multiple complex engineering projects simultaneously, ensuring technical excellence, schedule adherence, documentation compliance, risk mitigation, and successful product delivery.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with extensive experience designing embedded electronic systems and motor control hardware.
- Strong expertise in analog and digital circuit design, microcontroller-based systems, power electronics, signal conditioning, A/D and D/A converters, and embedded hardware architecture.
- Experience developing products for aerospace, defense, space, or other high-reliability industries with a strong understanding of design controls, qualification testing, and engineering documentation.
- Proven leadership experience mentoring engineers, leading technical programs, conducting design reviews, and driving engineering teams toward successful project execution.
- Nice to have:
Embedded software development experience in C or C++, digital signal processing, control systems, TCP/IP networking, sensor less motor control, project management methodologies, and schematic capture tools.
