Overview
The Senior Engineer – Mechanical Engineering designs, analyzes, modifies, tests, and prepares tools, engines, machines and other mechanically functioning equipment. This role supports a design team focused on the development of next-generation UAV systems and subsystems, from conceptual to detailed design, including building and testing.
Responsibilities- Design structural components, electro-mechanical systems, payload mechanical design, ground equipment, launching systems, flight control actuators integration, and thermal analysis.
- Develop prototype hardware, tooling and fixtures; read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer-generated reports.
- Assist project managers with planning and scheduling of engineering work; confer with engineers and other personnel to implement procedures, resolve malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Develop manufacturing drawings and bills of materials for components and assemblies using industry drafting standards.
- Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals and data to evaluate feasibility, cost and maintenance requirements.
- Support design reviews, assist with planning and scheduling, and support manufacturing and suppliers with production of components and assemblies.
- Resolve a wide range of issues creatively while applying company policies and procedures; complete tasks within project schedule and budget.
- Demonstrate understanding of the specialization of the role and research/re-engineer to propose alternate solutions to complex issues; work on problems of diverse scope and impact project costs and schedules.
- Provide clear, actionable instructions and guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional team members.
- 5–8 years of experience designing complex mechanical systems with demonstrated hardware transition.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience designing parts such as machined parts, simple composite parts, plastic injection molded parts, sheet metal parts, wire assemblies, and mechanical assemblies.
- Hands-on building/prototyping experience related to lightweight miniature robotic systems or similar.
- Experience designing electro-mechanical systems with thermodynamic constraints.
- Proficiency in mechanical engineering processes and design/analysis tools; proven ability to create engineering drawings compliant with ASME Y14.100, Y14.5 and related ASME Y14 standards.
- Proficient in Solid Works and office software (e.g., MS Office).
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; collaborative and able to share ideas and seek feedback.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; shows initiative and drive; takes ownership of work products.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrates teamwork and a focus on collective success.
Ability to work in an office environment (constant) and in a manufacturing environment (occasional). Must be able to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (constant).

Compensation and Benefits:
