Electrical Engineer

This role focuses on the design, system integration, and maintenance of embedded hardware platforms that support Space Orbital Missions, Lunar Missions, Aerospace, and Defense projects. You will work on advanced controller-operated digital and analog electronics, contributing throughout the full product lifecycle from concept and design through qualification and documentation. The position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge high-technology applications in a fast-paced environment, with potential eligibility for a sign-on bonus based on experience, qualifications, and role requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain controller-operated digital and analog electronic hardware for embedded systems used in aerospace and defense applications.
  • Recommend and implement hardware solutions that improve system performance, reliability, and engineering practices.
  • Guide mechanical engineering activities related to hardware packaging and board layout to ensure robust, manufacturable designs.
  • Support product development across all phases, including requirements definition, detailed design, parts selection, qualification, and documentation.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation such as specifications, schematics, PCB layouts, bills of materials (BOMs), and qualification reports.
  • Assist with the development and testing of PC-based graphical user interfaces (GUIs) used for hardware control and diagnostics.
  • Develop test plans, execute tests, analyze test results, and contribute to the design of test stand equipment to validate hardware performance.
  • Coordinate hardware releases, upgrades, and custom interface solutions, ensuring thorough technical reviews and configuration control.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to resolve technical issues and drive projects to completion.
  • Use electronic test equipment to verify, troubleshoot, and optimize hardware designs in a hands-on, practical manner.
Essential Skills
  • At least 3 years of recent embedded hardware development experience in high-technology applications.
  • Recent hardware design experience with a track record of designing approximately three or more boards within the last year.
  • Strong background in embedded hardware development, including controller-operated systems.
  • Proficiency in designing and analyzing analog and digital circuits.
  • Experience with ORCAD for schematic capture and PCB design.
  • Hands-on approach and a get-it-done attitude, with the ability to work directly with electronic test equipment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Experience with electrical engineering design, including schematics, PCB layout, and analog circuitry.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Familiarity with motor control systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of power electronics components such as IGBTs, MOSFETs, power drivers, and current sensors.
  • Experience working with A/D and D/A converters in embedded systems.
  • Exposure to FPGA-based designs and high-speed signal processing.
  • Understanding of DSP, control systems, and digital filter design.
  • Basic software design experience for embedded applications.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking concepts and C/C++ programming is a plus.
  • Ability to coordinate technical reviews and contribute to hardware release and upgrade planning.
Work Environment

The work environment is fast-paced and centered around high-technology aerospace and defense projects, including space orbital and lunar missions. You will work with advanced embedded hardware platforms, electronic test equipment, and industry-standard tools such as ORCAD for schematic and PCB design, as well as technologies involving FPGAs, DSPs, power electronics, and control systems. The role follows a 9/80 work schedule, offering an alternative workweek structure that provides extended weekends while maintaining full-time hours.

Collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams is a core part of the environment, with a strong emphasis on hands-on development, rigorous testing, and thorough documentation in a professional engineering setting.
