Corporate Controller – North of Los Angeles, CA
Location: Palmdale or Simi Valley, CA (Onsite, Full-Time)
Our growing manufacturing client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Corporate Controller for their multi‑plant, family‑owned organization. The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role ensures accurate, timely financial information across multiple locations, supports operational decision‑making, and partners with plant leadership and executives to drive profitability, cost control, and compliance.
This role reports to the Vice President and will manage a team of 3 direct reports and is an ONSITE role.
Key Responsibilities Accounting- Perform comprehensive monthly general ledger reviews for the organization and related companies
- Perform monthly review of bank reconciliations and assist with discrepancies
- Maintain records of non-recurring assets and liabilities
- Maintain fixed asset ledgers and follow up on manufacturing equipment partial sales tax credit
- Prepare and post various recurring journal entries
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial adjustments and closing for the organization and related companies
- Update monthly product line analysis
- Prepare and review financial statements
- Prepare monthly financial analysis reports for management
- Prepare monthly analysis of multiple locations
- Perform monthly and quarterly sales tax reporting
- Manage accounting processes and act as primary liaison with external tax accountant and auditors
- Review payroll runs and assist with unique situations
- Manage ongoing ADP/general ledger interface
- Manage open enrollment integration into payroll
- Perform monthly reconciliation of benefit deductions
- Manage ACA reporting
- Assist with payroll special projects
- Oversee standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation across all plants
- Monitor and analyze labor, overhead, scrap, yield, and production variances
- Partner with plant managers to understand cost drivers and improve margins
- Ensure accurate BOMs, routings, and cost roll-ups
- Lead the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting process for multiple locations
- Analyze plant- level performance vs. budget and forecast
- Provide actionable insights on capacity utilization, make/buy decisions, and capital investments
- Design, implement, and maintain strong internal controls across all plants
- Ensure consistency in accounting policies and reporting
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax requirements, and company policies
- Oversee inventory controls, cycle counts, and physical inventories
- Lead Office Manager, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable staff
- Establish standardized processes and best practices across locations
- Oversee ERP and financial systems (often multi-site ERP environments)
- Drive process improvements in close, reporting, and plant finance operations
- Support system implementations, upgrades, and integrations
- Support executive leadership with financial modeling and strategic analysis
- Evaluate capital expenditures, ROI, and plant expansion or consolidation initiatives
- Provide financial insight for pricing, customer profitability, and sourcing decisions
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
- Minimum 5 years accounting experience
- Minimum 3 years team leadership
- Additional Certification (CPA or CMA) is a plus
- Manufacturing Accounting experience is a plus
- GAAP + financial reporting expertise
- ERP systems experience is preferred
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
