Workday FINS Specialist

Position Summary

We are looking for a Workday Financials Specialist who bridges the gap between technical system configuration and core accounting principles. Unlike a general IT role, this position requires a "Finance-First" mindset. You will be responsible for the hands‑on configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Workday Financials, ensuring the system supports our accounting team’s needs for accuracy, compliance, and streamlined month‑end close.

This is a hybrid role based in our Simi Valley office, offering the perfect balance of collaborative in‑person strategy and remote focus time.

• Lead the hands‑on configuration of Workday FINS modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cash Management, and Fixed Assets
  .
• Maintain and optimize the Foundation Data Model (FDM), including company structures, cost centers, and worktags.
• Design and update Business Processes (BPs) to ensure appropriate approvals and internal controls are in place.

• Build and maintain advanced financial reports, including Composite Reports
  , Trial Balances, and Income Statements.
• Partner with the Accounting team to automate schedules and reconciliations within Workday.
• Perform regular data audits to ensure the integrity of the ledger and sub‑ledgers.

• Act as the primary "translator" between the Finance department and the technical IT team.
• Support the Month‑End Close process by troubleshooting system bottlenecks and resolving posting errors in real‑time.
• Provide training to the broader accounting team on new features and reporting tools.

• Accounting Foundation: 3+ years of experience in a Corporate Accounting or Audit role (e.g., Staff/Senior Accountant). You must understand debits/credits, accruals, and GAAP principles.
• Workday Expertise: 2+ years of hands‑on experience configuring Workday Financial Management

• Technical Proficiency: Deep knowledge of Workday Report Writer and Calculated Fields

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Management Information Systems (MIS).
• Proximity: Ability to work from the Simi Valley office on a hybrid schedule.
