Buyer II
The Buyer II uses expertise for a range of purchasing activities, including pricing and negotiating with suppliers to reach the highest quality at best value. Performs complex purchasing activities while ensuring procurement procedures comply with government laws, regulations, and management objectives.
Job Core Responsibilities- Manage large, complex supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness targets are achieved, eradicating and/or escalating problems efficiently both internally and externally to minimize impact on our business.
- Develop and agree contracts as required, manage and enforce complex contractual obligations, and drive annual cost down while minimizing supplier cost increases.
- Accountable for commodity Purchase Cost Variance (PCV) performance for designated commodities.
- Coordinate required procurement input and issue resolution in support of team goals.
- Support strategic make‑vs‑buy activities and cross‑functional manufacturing strategy development.
- Conduct large‑spend category requests for quotation, evaluation, negotiations, and sourcing activities to obtain a full range of products and services that meet performance targets and Parker’s guidelines. Raise orders and/or other demand signals accurately and on time to ensure all goods and services are supplied in accordance with customer and company requirements while optimizing inventory levels.
- Manage day‑to‑day activities in support of procurement of materials and services including obsolescence, engineering changes, part revisions, invoice issues, pricing discrepancies, expediting/de‑expediting, cancellations, and management of defective materials. Ensure compliance with government laws, regulations, and company policies and processes. Lead cross‑function and senior‑level meetings internally and externally to resolve issues.
- Manage system and supply‑chain performance parameters such as supplier contact information, lead times, minimum order quantities, delivery frequency, and schedules. Review performance data related to purchasing effectiveness and efficiency and lead corrective actions as necessary.
- Proactively work with major suppliers and commodities to discover and exploit opportunities for continuous improvement, performance improvement, savings, and other efficiencies by working across supplier and internal organizations.
- Lead product development, VA/VE, supplier capacity analysis, and other supplier engagement processes in support of departmental goals, including supplier account reviews and appropriate action management.
- Carry out other duties as may be required within the job holder’s capability consistent with the terms and conditions of employment.

Compensation and Work Schedule- Pay Range: $83,250 to $138,550 annually.
