Aerospace CNC Machinist III- 1st shift

Pay Range $28 to $36

CNC Lathe machinist is responsible for producing work in the most efficient manner while meeting the drawing/planning specification and requirements. Under general supervision, the machinist sets up, operates, and adjusts CNC lathe machines. They work from drawings and written instructions to create parts, read and interpret CNC programs, and may need to make offsets to programs on CNC machines. The role requires knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in the machining process.

The machinist may also assist and train less experienced machinists.

• Completes set‑ups with general supervision or assistance.
• Responsible for all phases of part operation set‑up to achieve first article acceptance.
• Performs and maintains accurate in‑process quality inspection and records.
• Identifies and recommends process improvements to reduce part quality variation.
• Inputs data into visual management forms and conveys results to management.
• Continuously improves processes, procedures, and eliminates waste.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• At least three (3) years of experience operating and setting up CNC lathes.
• Skilled in the use of indicators, gauges, dial bores, and plate inspection methods for first‑article and in‑process inspection of precision machined parts.
• Ability to maintain close tolerances (within 0.0005 inches) of IDs and ODs, roundness, concentricity, and squareness.
• Understanding of machine tool accuracies, fixture offsets, and tool offsets.
• Knowledge of cutting tool feeds, speeds, and tool life for aerospace hard turning or milling.
• Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blueprints and quality requirements.
• Ability to communicate with employees and management in a positive manner.
• Ability to lift a maximum of 50 lbs (over 25 lbs with assistance).
• Ideal candidate will have experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma.
