Test Technician II – Contractor – Simi Valley, CA

Summary

The Test Technician II is primarily responsible for testing/assembling Small Unmanned Aircraft System products in our manufacturing facility, following released engineering drawings and assembly instructions using our work order system.

Position Responsibilities
  • Mechanical assembly of subassemblies using hand and/or power tools
  • Final assembly of ground control equipment and air vehicles
  • Testing and troubleshooting of subassemblies and final assemblies
  • Collaboration with Production Technicians and Engineering to correct and improve upon documentation related to the assembly process while maintaining high quality standards
  • Ensuring work order protocols are followed and all work order paperwork is completed as work is performed
  • May train other technicians on product assembly or established assembly processes
  • Conduct in-process quality checks to verify items meet high-quality standards
  • Work with manufacturing engineers to improve assembly efficiency, product quality, reduce manufacturing costs, and validate released assembly/fabrication documentation
  • Follow established procedures on routine work and may require instruction on new assignments
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Work with engineering on new product development where documentation and assembly instructions are not yet finalized
  • Handle semi-routine assignments
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications (Required)
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment in electronics or electro‑mechanical assembly and test or equivalent education, training, and experience
  • Experience with hand tools (crimpers, drills, taps, torque wrenches, power tools, air tools)
  • Ability to solder as part of assembly functions and duties
  • Good manual dexterity and basic computer operation skills
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving skills and attention to detail, with ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
  • Vocational training in Electronics or Solder Certification preferred
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics desired
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies desired
  • Familiarity with Safety and ESD practices desired
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
  • Displays strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products
  • Committed to learning from mistakes and improving performance
  • Values teamwork, collaboration, and prioritizes team success
Physical Demands
  • Work in a manufacturing environment
  • Use hand tools (e.g., clamps) with light, minimal force
  • Sit for long periods, occasionally stand short periods
  • Lifting/carrying objects 2–5 lbs frequently
  • Use hand/finger, handle or feel objects, tools, controls, and balance frequently
  • Occasional walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; talk or hear
  • Requires normal vision: close, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment

ITAR Requirement

This position requires access to information subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR and EAR, or be approved for an export license by the governing agency. A U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or other U.S. person is required. Some positions require current U.S. citizenship for contract compliance.
