CNC Lathe Machinist
This role involves operating CNC lathes to machine precision bearings and gears for the aerospace and defense industry. You will set up and run a variety of CNC machines, work with stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other exotic metals, and use precision measuring tools to inspect and verify the quality of your own parts.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC lathe machines to produce precision bearings and gears for aerospace and defense applications.
- Work with CNC equipment such as Okuma, Haas, NTX
2000L, Doosan Vertical Turning Lathes, and similar machines. - Perform complete CNC setups, including loading programs, selecting appropriate tooling, and adjusting offsets.
- Machine components from stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other exotic metals while maintaining tight tolerances.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other inspection instruments to inspect and verify your own parts.
- Perform in-process inspections and make necessary adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality standards.
- Follow established machining, safety, and quality procedures in a precision machining environment.
- Collaborate with team members and support continuous improvement efforts in machining and inspection processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure proper handling of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Proven experience operating CNC lathes in a precision machining environment.
- Hands-on experience setting up CNC lathes, including tooling, offsets, and program loading.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Proficiency using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other inspection instruments.
- Experience machining stainless steel, titanium, Inconel, and other exotic metals.
- Professional experience in aerospace machining is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with CNC mills and general CNC machine operation.
- Experience performing self-inspection and in-process inspection of machined parts.
- Ability to work safely around heavy machinery and follow established safety procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precision components.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Okuma and Haas CNC machines.
- Experience with NTX
2000L and Doosan Vertical Turning Lathes or similar equipment. - Exposure to aerospace industry standards and requirements.
- Comfort working with a variety of exotic metals beyond stainless steel, titanium, and Inconel.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills in a production environment.
- Willingness to work multiple shifts and weekends as needed.

This position is based in a production machine shop environment supporting aerospace and defense work. The facility operates on two primary shifts: a first shift from 5:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and a second shift from 3:30 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., with the expectation that employees remain open to working weekends and Saturdays when required. The machine shop itself does not have air conditioning, but air-conditioned break rooms are available for relief and comfort.
