Performs nondestructive testing to determine the existence of flaws, discontinuities, leaks, contamination, thermal anomalies or imperfections in aircraft materials, components or assemblies without impairing the integrity or function of the inspected component. Conducts test activities and records results in accordance with established testing plan and specifications. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles test equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, and schematics.
May perform equipment modifications as directed by engineers.
- Complete work according to instructions, specifications, and procedures.
- Conduct a variety of Non-Destructive Tests, including liquid penetration inspection (PT).
- Maintain regular, consistent, and punctual attendance; may need to work nights and weekends, variable schedules, and additional hours as necessary.
- Interpret and complete process controls required for penetrant inspection, such as proper lighting, temperatures, and system performance evaluations.
- Process parts through the complete penetrant inspection cycle.
- Document liquid penetrant inspection results.
- Familiarity with the scope and limitations of the liquid penetrant method.
- Perform liquid penetrant inspection in accordance with industry standards.
- Review and write procedures, prep work for audits, and participate in internal and external audits.
- 4+ years of NDT experience as a certified technician.
- 1200 penetrant logged hours (level II) per NAS
410. - Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Manufacturing background.
- Experience with welding, heat treating, machining, and assembly processes and procedures a plus.
Education:
High School Diploma/Equivalent and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations.
Certifications:
Vocational training, apprenticeships or equivalent experience in related field.
