Engineer Technician
This role focuses on the precision fitting, alignment, and assembly of fabricated sheet metal components, structural assemblies, weldments, and ducting systems in support of aerospace manufacturing operations. The Engineer Technician interprets engineering drawings, manufacturing routings, specifications, and work instructions to complete assemblies within established quality and production standards, while supporting fabrication and assembly activities with strict adherence to workmanship, safety, and configuration control requirements.
Responsibilities- Assemble, fit, and install simple to complex duct assemblies and structural components while maintaining close-tolerance requirements.
- Utilize hand tools, measuring instruments, fixtures, and shop aids to support production and improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Verify dimensional accuracy and conformance to engineering specifications throughout the assembly process.
- Maintain responsibility for product quality, workmanship, and compliance with applicable manufacturing procedures.
- Record Statistical Process Control (SPC) data and production documentation in accordance with established quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, manufacturing routings, technical specifications, and assembly instructions to ensure assemblies meet engineering requirements.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Production teams to ensure compliance with operational and customer requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-conscious work environment.
- Obtain and maintain required certifications in accordance with company procedures and training requirements.
- Support fabrication and assembly activities while maintaining strict adherence to workmanship, safety, and configuration control requirements.
- Proven ability to perform mechanical assembly and sheet metal fitting in a production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to align, fit, and assemble fabricated sheet metal components, structural assemblies, and ducting systems while maintaining close tolerances.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, manufacturing routings, technical specifications, and work instructions.
- Capability to verify dimensional accuracy and conformance to engineering specifications using appropriate measuring devices.
- Experience recording and interpreting Statistical Process Control (SPC) data and documenting production activities in accordance with quality standards.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance principles and precision inspection practices.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one year of experience in sheet metal fitting, mechanical assembly, aerospace manufacturing, fabrication, or a related production environment.
- Ability to successfully complete written and practical skills assessments.
- Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions in a manufacturing environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Understanding of precision assembly techniques, close-tolerance fitting, and aerospace manufacturing standards.
- Experience working with measuring devices, hand tools, and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to document production activities and complete routine reports accurately.
- Strong mathematical aptitude, including working with decimals, fractions, and dimensional measurements.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Certification stamps or previous fitting certifications are highly preferred.
