Time Commitment: Approximately 5–10 hours per month
The Simi Valley Orchestral and Choral Foundation (SVOCF) is seeking Board Members to join its Board of Directors. Board members help guide the organization’s mission, provide oversight, and support the long-term sustainability of programs that bring orchestral and choral music to the community.
This role is well-suited for individuals who care about the arts, education, and community engagement, and who want to contribute their perspective, skills, or experience to a nonprofit organization.
About the PositionBoard Members serve as stewards of the organization’s mission and are responsible for governance, strategic direction, and organizational oversight. Board service includes active participation in meetings, thoughtful discussion, and collaboration with fellow board members and leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Attend and participate in board meetings
- Provide input on organizational strategy, policies, and planning
- Support the mission and goals of the Foundation
- Serve on committees or working groups as needed
- Act as an ambassador for the organization within the community
- Uphold nonprofit governance and ethical standards
- Interest in arts, music, education, or community nonprofits
- Willingness to collaborate respectfully with a diverse group of volunteers
- Ability to think strategically and contribute ideas
- Dependability and a sense of shared responsibility
Backgrounds in finance, legal, education, fundraising, marketing, or nonprofit leadership are welcome, but not required.
CompensationThis is a volunteer, non-paid board position.
