Overview
The Quality Inspection Supervisor will manage and coordinate all quality inspection and calibration activities at Regal Rexnord PSI Bearings. The role provides daily support to manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and contracts teams, addresses inspection‑related issues, and drives continuous improvement initiatives throughout manufacturing and inspection processes.
Key Accountabilities- Effectively supervise and direct all daily quality inspection and calibration activities; establish clear performance expectations and accountability for department associates.
- Participate in all internal, customer, and registration audits, as well as product quality audits conducted at PSI Bearings.
- Determine root causes of identified inspection problems and define corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Make decisions on quality issues and manage risk.
- Implement continuous‑improvement processes that increase product quality and reduce inspection cost.
- Determine staffing requirements to meet quality and delivery expectations.
- Manage inspection backlog and turnaround‑time metrics.
- Prioritize multiple inspection jobs in a high‑pace environment.
- Supervise employees within company policies, including personnel actions.
- Grow and develop the team’s knowledge and skills through coaching and guidance.
- Communicate effectively with other functional departments.
- Knowledge of dimensional inspection measurement systems and application for complex products, with a general understanding of ASME Y 14.5 (GD&T).
- Ability to promote and foster a continuous‑improvement culture.
- Ability to provide training and guidance to inspectors.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Leadership skills: drive change, influence others, and manage quality inspection teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Professional demeanor when interacting with internal personnel, customers, suppliers, and external auditors.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Four‑year college degree in engineering or a related technical field, with a minimum of five years of supervisory experience in quality control; aerospace manufacturing (machine shop) experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Gage R&R studies, and lean systems.
- Understanding of AS9100 and ISO 10012 (ANSI/NCSL Z540‑1) and ability to apply these requirements cost‑effectively.
- Ability to determine appropriate dispositions for nonconforming product and to act as a quality representative for Preliminary Review (PR).
- General understanding of metallurgy and the effect of composition, mechanical working, and heat treatments on physical and mechanical properties of metals.
- General understanding of FAA requirements; previous experience as a DMIR, DAR, or DER is desired.
Expected Salary: $110,000 – $175,000 annually.
