Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Lead Quality Inspector to join our team. The role involves performing inspections on parts, subassemblies, tooling, and raw materials to ensure they adhere to specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mechanical inspection within an aerospace or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Follow established quality procedures, work instructions, engineering drawings, and planning documents to support inspection activities.
- Perform inspections on parts, subassemblies, tooling, and raw materials to confirm adherence to specifications and requirements.
- Document inspection results, maintain accurate records, and generate reports as needed.
- Inspect welded assemblies and components throughout receiving, in-process, and final stages for dimensional accuracy, functionality, and compliance with 3D models and specifications.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and process instructions to understand inspection requirements.
- Conduct inspections using visual methods, precision measuring tools, and automated inspection equipment.
- Verify conformance of parts before and after processing operations.
- Record inspection data and enter results into computer systems to support disposition decisions (acceptance or rejection).
- Track and log nonconforming and scrap material.
- Perform equipment calibration and support internal audits.
- Complete First Article Inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
- Operate as an inspector in support of quality and compliance initiatives.
- Proficiency in Blueprint Reading & GD&T (ANSI Y14.5).
- Experience with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Familiarity with First Article and In-Process Inspection in accordance with AS9102/aerospace standards.
- Minimum of 6 years of mechanical inspection experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school training preferred.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards.
- Experience with Quality Management Systems and NADCAP processes.
- Experience operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
- Knowledge of calibration systems such as ANSI Z540-1.
- Familiarity with welding standards such as D17.1 and D17.2.
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred.
- Internal auditing experience is a plus.
The work environment involves using precision measuring tools and automated inspection equipment. The role requires strong hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity. You will work independently with minimal supervision, focusing on ensuring parts meet tight tolerance ranges and quality standards.
Job Type & LocationContract to Hire position based out of Simi Valley, CA.
Pay And BenefitsPay range: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour.
