Position Summary
Parker Aerospace is seeking a Quality Engineer for the Fire, Safety, and Power Division in Simi Valley, CA. The role focuses on supporting the Quality Assurance Department, developing procedures, reviewing drawings, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with aerospace quality standards.
Responsibilities- Provide technical support to the QA department, assist in identifying root causes of technical issues.
- Develop and review procedures, drawings, and process improvement plans.
- Apply statistical techniques including FMEA, PFMEA, design of experiments, SPC, Six Sigma.
- Implement and manage Zero Defect methodologies, APQP, PPAP, and other quality tools.
- Participate in AS9100/ISO
9001 requirements, training, internal audit support, and quality review data preparation. - Apply engineering standards (ASME Y14.5M, ANSI/ASQC Z1.4, MIL-STD-100, ANSI/NCSL Z540-3, FED-STD-H28).
- Support new business development by reviewing customer quality requirements and assisting proposal writing.
- Coordinate supplier evaluations, source inspections, and performance reviews.
- Develop inspection methods, sampling plans, and provide interpretation of drawings/specifications.
- Conduct corrective/preventive action using 8‑D, fault tree, cause & effect diagrams, 5 Whys.
- Prepare failure analysis reports, analyze audit results, and recommend actions.
- Assist engineering in drawing revisions to eliminate quality deviations.
- Perform statistical analysis of test data and prepare monthly quality performance metrics.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and maintain attendance.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field.
- 3‑7+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in aerospace or manufacturing.
- Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Background in engineering and manufacturing processes, statistical methods, Six Sigma.
- Experience with military and commercial specifications for materials and special processing (IPC, J‑STD).
- Strong communication skills, ability to prepare reports, presentations, and recommend actions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Certification as ASQ Quality Engineer is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license may be required; ability to travel for source inspections.
The role may require lifting up to 20 pounds frequently or up to 50 pounds occasionally, operating in shop and lab environments. Typical office/inspection lab is air‑conditioned; shop areas may be non‑air‑conditioned and contain hazardous materials.
Compensation- Pay range: $100,300 – $166,900 annually.
