Our client is a well-established, growth-oriented manufacturer seeking an accomplished accounting leader to help strengthen and scale its finance organization. This is a highly visible, on-site leadership opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with hands-on team development, operational improvement, and acquisition integration. The organization is open to both an experienced accounting leader seeking long-term stability and a high-potential professional with roughly 10 to 12 years of progressive experience who is ready to step into broader ownership.
This Role Offers:
- Opportunity to shape accounting processes, controls, systems, and team capabilities as the organization continues to evolve.
- Meaningful involvement in acquisition integration and other strategic growth initiatives.
- A strong environment for continued professional advancement, supported by a culture focused on high standards, effective leadership, and organizational progress.
Focus:
- Direct the monthly accounting cycle, establishing clear ownership for close activities, reconciliations, reviews, and timely resolution of accounting issues.
- Oversee core accounting operations spanning the general ledger, receivables, payables, fixed assets, inventory, cash activity, and other key balance sheet accounts.
- Serve as a technical accounting leader for US GAAP matters involving revenue recognition, reserves, accruals, capitalization, and other complex or judgment-based areas.
- Strengthen financial controls and accounting procedures by identifying risk, improving workflows, and building repeatable practices that increase accuracy and efficiency.
- Coordinate external audit activities, maintain strong audit readiness, and drive timely resolution of requests, findings, and follow-up actions.
- Oversee financial processes related to organizational growth and integration, ensuring consistent procedures, accurate reporting, and alignment across accounting operations.
- Develop accounting talent through coaching, clear expectations, candid feedback, and accountability while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to evaluate financial performance, identify areas requiring attention, and support timely resolution of business challenges.
Skill Set:
- 10 or more years of progressive accounting, controllership, or finance experience, with meaningful responsibility for close, controls, audits, reconciliations, accounting operations, and team performance.
- Strong command of US GAAP and balance sheet accounting, including revenue recognition, reserves, accruals, fixed assets, inventory, and internal controls.
- Manufacturing or project-based accounting experience is required, including exposure to cost accounting. Aerospace and defense experience is valuable but not required.
- Hands-on M&A integration experience is required. Candidates do not need to have led full transaction diligence, and experience integrating smaller acquisitions can qualify.
- Demonstrated success coaching, developing, engaging, and holding accounting professionals accountable.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting preferred. A Finance degree may be considered when paired with substantial technical accounting experience.
- CPA or CMA credentials are valued but not required.
- Experience improving ERP platforms, accounting systems, or finance processes is beneficial.
- Strong judgment, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical detail and broader business priorities.
