Position OverviewUConn Health is seeking an experienced Staff Nurse (CNII) to join our patient‑focused outpatient care team. This full‑time position is based in Simsbury and supports our Internal Medicine and Multispecialty practice. The selected candidate will provide comprehensive nursing support across all departments within the practice location and may float to other sites as operational needs require.
Schedule40 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., 60‑minute unpaid meal break.
Responsibilities- Performs individualized nursing assessments for each assigned patient.
- Organizes and coordinates patient care.
- Collaborates with the health care team to implement patient care plans.
- Develops and updates care plans utilizing established standards of care, which include physician‑prescribed therapies and common nursing measures derived from disease‑related, therapy, and/or personal needs.
- Communicates and educates patients and family members for a clear understanding of the care provided.
- Completes required documentation in a timely manner according to policies and standards.
- Contributes to the quality of nursing care through performance improvement.
- Participates in staff and patient care conferences.
- Assists in clinical education, orientation, and mentoring of other staff.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- One (1) year professional nursing experience.
- Current registered nurse license to practice nursing in the State of Connecticut.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of nursing.
- Knowledge of relevant health center policies and procedures and State regulations.
- Knowledge of clinical standards of care, documentation and patient record policies and standards.
- Understanding of computer‑based applications.
- Considerable interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as an effective team member.
- Ability to establish priorities and manage effectively.
- Experience working in an outpatient / ambulatory clinical setting.
- Experience in a multi‑specialty group.
- Experience in Primary Care (Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, and/or Urgent Care settings).
May be required to lift and restrain patients; may be exposed to communicable/infectious diseases and to risk of injury from assaultive/abusive clients; may be exposed to disagreeable conditions.
