Perdue Farms in Sioux Center is hiring a 1st shift Harvest Floor Supervisor. The Production Supervisor’s primary responsibility is to provide day‑to‑day leadership and direction to the production team. The Production Supervisor ensures the staff achieves required production and quality standards in a safe manner, and promotes and maintains positive working relationships with the production group. This position ensures timely and cost‑efficient production and distribution of company products.
This position has the authority to make day‑to‑day decisions based upon established policy and procedures.
- Ensure products are run in the proper order, completed on time, and rotated properly; detection equipment operates as required and packaging materials are tracked and ordered when needed.
- Meet all facility operational plans, yield, throughput, maximum line efficiency, and quality requirements.
- Ensure processes are in place to continuously reduce turnover, improve safety results as measured by the Safety Scorecard, and create an environment that will make the facility the Employer of Choice in the area.
- Ensure training processes are in place to continually improve the skill set of hourly production associates, maximizing individual and team results.
- Consistently develop new ideas and methods to improve operational performance, product quality, and customer reliability.
- Support and promote the company’s annual People, Products, and Profitability goals through effective planning, communication, emphasizing the requirement for all team members to be efficient and effective in their respective responsibilities.
- Responsible for monitoring and signing off on associate’s timecards, monitoring breaks to ensure associates return to the floor within allotted windows, and administering disciplinary actions when needed.
- Previous supervisory experience with a proven track record demonstrating ability to lead people and get results.
- Ability to think ahead and plan over a 1 to 3 year time span.
- Ability to develop, organize, deploy, and complete multiple protocols or projects on schedule.
- Strong analysis and problem‑solving skills at the strategic and functional levels.
- Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organization; possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Computer literate with skills in Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to travel to other facilities and plants for meetings and/or company business.
- Bilingual:
Spanish/English preferred but not required. - May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
- May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
- Work environment primarily consists of wet and moist floors with metal and plastic grating surfaces.
- Temperature ranges from 28° to 100° Fahrenheit with both ambient and 100% humidity.
- Work may involve handling product temperatures between 25° and 50° Fahrenheit.
- Noise ranges of 50 dB to 110 dB may be encountered.
- Exposure to chemicals used in pork processing.
- Must wear and use protective and safety equipment as directed by the company.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.
- Typical work requires bending, twisting, lifting, reaching, sitting, and grasping with varying repetitions, distances, angles, weights, heights, and intervals.
