Position: Head of Sports Performance

Dordt University is seeking a visionary leader to bridge the gap between faith, grit, and athletic excellence. If you are a high-energy professional with a heart for mentorship and a head for sports science, we want you to build something legendary in Sioux Center.

  • At Dordt, we don’t just train athletes; we develop whole persons. As our Head of Sports Performance, you will be the architect of a cutting-edge program that integrates physical mastery with our Reformed Christian mission. You won’t just be “running drills”—you’ll be shaping the culture of Defender Athletics.
  • Build & Lead:
Assemble and manage a powerhouse sports performance team dedicated to the success of all 15+ varsity programs.
  • Innovate:
Design and execute a comprehensive, data-driven athletic performance curriculum that pushes the boundaries of traditional S&C.
  • Collaborate:
Work hand-in-hand with coaches and athletic training staff to ensure our student-athletes are resilient, explosive, and ready for game day.
  • Mentor:
Serve as a spiritual and professional role model, fostering an environment of excellence, discipline, and Christ-centered growth.

The Expertise: A deep well of knowledge in biomechanics, periodization, and modern performance technology.

  • The Passion: A genuine love for the “grind” and a commitment to the success of every athlete, from the football field to the volleyball court.
  • The Heart: A desire to live out the Dordt mission, helping students see their athletic gifts as a means of service and worship.

The ideal candidate will combine technical mastery of sports science with the interpersonal skills necessary to lead a diverse athletic department.

  • Education:

    * Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
    • Preferred:
Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience:

Two (2) or more years of experience in sports performance at the high school, collegiate, or professional level is preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • Must hold a current Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) and/or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
    • Must hold current certifications in CPR, AED, and First Aid.
  • Technical Proficiency: A strong working knowledge and proven teaching skills in the analysis and techniques of sports performance, periodization, and strength training.
  • Regulatory Knowledge:
Familiarity with NAIA regulations and guidelines regarding the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
  • Interpersonal

    Skills:

Demonstrated ability to interact positively and professionally with student-athletes, colleagues, and the public, representing Dordt University with excellence.
