Position: Local Ready Mix Driver - CDL A or B Required Sioux Center, IA

Local Ready Mix Driver - CDL A or B Required Sioux Center, IA

Local Ready Mix Driver responsible for operating a ready-mix concrete truck, ensuring safe delivery and quality at job sites. Sign-on bonus available.

Responsibilities
  • Pre‑trip inspection of ready-mix truck pursuant to D.O.T. regulations, checking fluid levels, tire pressure, brakes, and controls for loading/unloading.
  • Fill water tank before each delivery by attaching rubber hose, ensuring valves are closed after filling.
  • Use map book and experience to take the most direct route and ensure on‑time delivery.
  • Safely drive to job site, arriving with desired slump within customer specifications.
  • Maneuver truck in often unstable ground conditions and observe customers’ equipment and conditions.
  • Add necessary ingredients such as fibers, chemical admixtures, cement, integral colors, and other products at plant or job site.
  • Place chutes onto main chute for discharge, wash chutes after discharge, and return them to proper location on truck.
  • Wash truck with hose and brush after each shift, using acidic solution when necessary.
  • Communicate with dispatch via two‑way radio and truck status signaling system.
  • Call start time each day for drive‑out.
  • Perform post‑trip inspection of the truck pursuant to DOT regulations.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor or management.
Qualifications

High school diploma (minimum); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Pass Federal Department of Transportation drug screen and physical.
  • Maintain driving record in accordance with Federal and State Motor Carrier regulations.
  • Handle cash and make change.
  • Deal with customers and other employees diplomatically.
  • Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees; must read, write, and speak in English.
  • Maintain Department of Transportation health conditions.
  • Average work hours: 10 hours/day, 4–6 days/week.
  • Lifting 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Work in extreme temperatures (cold or hot).
