We are seeking a dynamic, creative, and community-focused Business Liaison to join our team!
The downtown Business Liaison is the primary relationship manager for downtown merchants and services. You build a complete picture of who’s here (contacts, needs, and opportunities) and provide hands‑on support and resources to help businesses thrive. A key priority is to maintain and deepen our one‑on‑one engagement with business owners, ensuring they have access to resources, connections, and support when they need it most.

- Proactively visit businesses; log needs, risks, and wins; take ownership of follow-through and close the loop.
- Serve as a concierge for day‑to‑day challenges (permits, marketing, referrals, City navigation).
- Build and maintain an accurate CRM of all downtown businesses (contacts, category, status, notes).
- Produce quarterly snapshots: openings/closings, at‑risk list, common needs, and cluster/gap mapping.
- Work priority‑category leads with local realtors; help match prospects to spaces and property owners; support site tours and provide downtown information.
- Create basic market snapshots, foot‑traffic/event calendars, and incentives information for prospects.
- Coordinate openings/ribbon cuttings and early‑stage promotions with partners.
- Curate and update a resource guide (loans, grants, TI, training) tailored to downtown businesses.
- Host bite‑sized workshops/office hours (e.g., Google Business Profile tune‑up, seasonal hiring 101).
- Communicate on a regular basis using the Simple Texting software to inform the downtown business community.
- Maintain a simple submission process and content calendar; manage list growth/segmentation/deliverability.
- Coordinate with chambers, SBDC, IWCI, colleges, workforce partners, and property owners to align services.
- Provide the Placemaking & Activities Coordinator with monthly content plans and calendar ideas to support outreach, communication, and business engagement efforts.
- Provide monthly activity reports and a simple pipeline for retention and recruitment.
- 100% of active businesses logged with current contacts; 90‑day refresh cycle maintained.
- Maintain a rolling list of top 5 recurring business needs showing actions taken or resources provided in response.
- Associate degree or higher in a related field.
- Relationship‑first communicator with strong follow‑through and discretion.
- Experience in small business support, economic development, or account management.
- Proficient with CRM/spreadsheets; experience with email marketing platforms a plus.
- Familiarity with downtown environments and Main Street principles is helpful.
- Creative problem‑solving abilities and a passion for small business success.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Annual Salary: Range from $50,000 - $55,000 annually, depending on experience, plus benefits.
