Pediatric Hospitalist Locums Job 24-Hour Shift Model
Coverage Duration: Ongoing need; approximately 7-10 days per month
Schedule: 24-hour shifts
Provider on-site 10-12 hours with remainder on-call
Locums typically work 4-5 consecutive days
Patient Load: Approximately 3 pediatric inpatients per day
Newborn nursery volume 7-10 infants at times
Majority of work focused in newborn nursery
Position Details:
Staffing Model: 3 employed pediatric hospitalists; currently short coverage and adding consistent locum support
Procedures:
Circumcisions, lumbar punctures, and routine newborn care
Call Back:
Minimal; typically no more than 1 call-back per stretch
Off-Shift Calls:
Usually 1-2 phone calls
NICU available for newborn support
