Emergency Medicine Physician – Locum Tenens Assignment
Position Overview
A busy Level II Trauma Center is seeking a Board‑Certified Emergency Medicine physician for an ongoing locum tenens assignment. This role offers a high‑acuity environment, strong APP support, and a collaborative relationship with an established Hospital Medicine program.
Assignment Details- Annual ED Volume: ~30,000
- Trauma Level: II
- Hospital Size: 484 licensed beds
- Coverage Model:
- 24‑hour physician coverage
- 30 hours/day NP/PA coverage
- Clinical Expectations:
- Full‑scope Emergency Medicine
- Work collaboratively with HM program (managed by SCP)
- EMR: Cerner
All items must be active and in hand for presentation:
Licensure & Certifications- Active state medical license
- CDS (if applicable)
- DEA with an IA address
- Board Certification in: ABEM or ABFM or ABIM (or osteopathic equivalents)
- Must be residency‑trained in the specialty in which you are certified
- ACLS
, ATLS
, PALS required - If ABEM‑certified: must show current ACLS and one‑time proof of ATLS
- CME from the past 2 years
- Case logs from the past 2 years
- Copies of all education & training diplomas
- Social Security card
- Driver's license
- Color photo (emailed to MSO)
- Immunization records:
- TB (or Quanti
FERON Gold) within 1 year - Flu vaccine or declination
- Hep B, MMR, Varicella
- TB (or Quanti
- Must complete in‑person EMR training prior to first shift (coordinated by PCC)
- Must have privileges granted before EMR training
- CV, DOB, specialty, and any red flags must be submitted to MSO to initiate application
- Board‑certified EM, FM, or IM physician with residency training aligned to certification
- Comfortable practicing in a Level II trauma environment
- Able to work effectively with APPs and a hospital medicine team
- Reliable, adaptable, and ready to step into a high‑acuity ED
