A well-established, family-owned community bank is seeking an experienced Commercial Banker to join its lending team. This is an outstanding opportunity to inherit an established $25–30 million commercial portfolio while continuing to grow relationships throughout the local market.

The bank offers true community banking with local ownership, local decision-making, and the autonomy to serve customers without unnecessary bureaucracy. With one lender nearing retirement and another early in their career, this individual will play a key role in supporting continued market growth while helping maintain exceptional service for commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and expand an existing commercial loan portfolio.
  • Develop new commercial banking relationships through networking and business development.
  • Structure, underwrite, and close commercial lending opportunities across multiple industries.
  • Analyze financial statements, cash flow, collateral, and credit risk.
  • Present loan opportunities for approval while maintaining strong credit quality.
  • Build long-term relationships with business owners and community leaders.
  • Cross-sell treasury management, deposit, and additional bank products.
  • Monitor portfolio performance and proactively manage credit risk.
  • Maintain compliance with bank policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Represent the bank throughout the local community.
Required Qualifications
  • 5–10+ years of commercial banking experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing commercial lending relationships.
  • Proven success developing new business and growing commercial portfolios.
  • Strong commercial credit and underwriting experience.
  • Experience structuring and underwriting commercial loan relationships ranging from $10MM–$20MM
    .
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and assess credit risk.
  • History of consistently producing approximately $5–10MM in annual commercial loan growth
    .
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent banking experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Banking School graduate (Graduate School of Banking, ABA, or similar).
  • Experience with both Commercial Real Estate (CRE) and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) lending.
  • Experience working within a community or regional banking environment.
  • Established business development network within a commercial market.
