We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our manufacturing facility outside Chicago. This position is open due to an internal promotion and will serve as a key technical resource for plant operations, helping troubleshoot process issues, analyze operating performance, and identify improvements to quality, efficiency, and reliability.
This is a hands-on plant engineering role for someone who enjoys being close to the manufacturing process, working with production teams, digging into data, and solving real-world process problems.
What You’ll Do- Monitor, analyze, and report key operational and process parameters
- Read, interpret, and work with P&IDs and process flow diagrams to support troubleshooting, process improvements, and equipment modifications
- Audit manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and procedures against established SOPs
- Analyze process data to identify trends, deviations, and opportunities for improvement
Investigate process deviations, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions - Serve as a technical resource to manufacturing teams in troubleshooting process and equipment-related issues
- Recommend process modifications to improve product quality, efficiency, reliability, and overall plant performance
- Work directly with production and plant leadership to solve operational problems and implement improvements
- Develop a strong understanding of the facility by working across various plant production processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (BSCE) required
- Minimum of 1 year of professional engineering experience within a batch, continuous, and/or liquid-process manufacturing environment such as food & beverage, chemicals, specialty ingredients, biofuels/ethanol, pharmaceuticals, or similar process industries
- Experience working with P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and process equipment within a manufacturing environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret process data and determine root causes
- Working knowledge of statistics and statistical/data-analysis tools
- Strong hands-on technical aptitude and willingness to work directly within the plant and around production equipment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Proactive, assertive, self-starting approach with the ability to take ownership of problems through resolution
