Job Overview

The role is for compassionate Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) to provide one‑to‑one pediatric private duty care to youth and young adults in Western and West Central Iowa. This position rewards nurses who value connection, continuity of care, and making a real difference in a child’s life.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive nursing services in patients’ homes according to Family First Homecare policies, state Nurse Practice Acts, and all applicable State and Federal regulations.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date clinical records on each patient and meet all documentation deadlines.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing services and consult with physicians regarding alterations to care plans.
  • Support Family First Homecare’s mission by mentoring or coaching new employees during patient‑specific orientations.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on care needs topics relevant to patients.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement program (QAPI) as requested.
  • Attend and complete all mandatory training and in‑services.
  • Submit required personnel file documentation promptly.
  • Adhere to compliance and ethics expectations, maintain patient and family confidentiality, and exhibit professional, supportive, and responsive communication.
  • Perform any other duties assigned.
Qualifications
  • Valid LPN/LVN or RN license in the state of employment or a Multi‑State license through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact where recognized.
  • Minimum of 1 year of demonstrated experience in pediatric or private duty homecare.
  • Experience with tube feeding.
  • Experience with trach and vents encouraged.
  • Valid driver’s license with proof of insurance.
  • Clear background screening.
  • Working knowledge of Nurse Practice Acts.
  • Current CPR card or certificate with an instructor‑led hands‑on skills check.
  • Clear Hep B and TB screening where required.
  • Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance and use office machines.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in patients’ homes and may involve varied environmental conditions. Training may occur in an office setting. Shifts may be 8, 10, or 12 hours, including nights, evenings, weekends, and Sundays.

Locations

Carroll, Grand Junction, Panora, Sioux City, Walnut, Iowa.

Schedule:

Full‑time or PRN hours, up to 12‑hour shifts (specific to each home). Availability:
Weekdays, Weeknights, Evenings and Weekends.

Start Date

Start of care is immediate or urgent.

Employment Type

W2 employee.

Compensation

The starting salary range is determined by skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. The full range reflects the competitive labor market and provides opportunities for progression as employees grow within the role. Some roles may have a compensation plan that includes a bonus, with rates varying based on multiple factors specified in the plan.
