Job Overview

Job  | Department:
Behavioral Health Unit – SLRMC. Part‑time RN (0.4 FTE).

Hours:

3 pm‑11 pm, days vary. The RN coordinates care for patients and families using the nursing process, providing critical thinking, care planning, evaluation, and family support.

• Delegate nursing care activities and monitor care per patient need and team member capabilities.
• Support evidence‑based practice and incorporate best practices into daily care.
• Mentor staff and students, assisting in creating a positive work environment and initiatives for quality and patient care.
• Communicate effectively with all team members, physicians, ancillary staff, and patients.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, safety goals, infection prevention, and risk management.
• Document patient care accurately.

• Completed an accredited nursing program and current valid nursing license for the state of Iowa.

• Valid nursing license.
• BCLS certification.
• Completion of one hour of stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually.

• Basic computer knowledge.
• Effective interpersonal, verbal, non‑verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to deal efficiently with a wide variety of individuals.
• Ability to move and lift patients and use appropriate equipment.
• Ability to meet unit competency, complete orientation, legally perform essential functions, and demonstrate medication administration and nursing competencies.
• Ability to document information accurately.
