Job Description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) will support plasma center operations under the guidance of the Center Manager or Assistant Manager and the Center Physician for medical issues. The role includes determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results.

Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility through informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of standing orders and donor transport to emergency care.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or clinical guidance.
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents, determining need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, and reference EHS guidance.
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS to investigate pandemic threats within the local community.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate-level recognized nursing program with state requirements.
  • Current licensure or certification in the state of assignment: EMT-Paramedic.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.
Benefits

Hourly wage range: $23.04‑$31.68 (actual wage based on experience, qualifications, and location). Compensation adheres to state or local minimum wage requirements.
