Position Overview
The University of Iowa Health Care, Child Health Specialty Clinics (CHSC), is seeking an 80% ARNP Supervisor located in Sioux City, IA.
Position Responsibilities- Assess the physical, psychosocial, and developmental status of children, youth, and young adults through history taking, records review, physical examination, and mental health screening/testing.
- Develop patient care plans with families and care teams, including teaching, counseling, referrals, care coordination, and medication prescribing when indicated; monitor follow-through and evaluate effectiveness.
- Complete patient medical records, reports, and forms in accordance with UI Health Care standards; bill for services appropriately.
- Ensure all services utilize principles of family‑centered, community‑based, and comprehensive care.
- Increase community awareness of DCCH programs.
- Provide leadership for or participate in development of infrastructure for new programs serving CYSHCN and advocacy and education efforts.
- Seek opportunities to expand professional knowledge and skills to continually improve quality of care.
- Participate in or lead program‑wide quality assessments and performance improvement initiatives.
- Oversee efforts to achieve State and National Performance Measures defined by Maternal and Child Health Title V program.
- Provide management of the regional center, including day‑to‑day finances, facilities, and equipment.
- Supervise and evaluate staff within the regional center according to personnel policies and union contracts.
- Participate on DCCH committees and work groups.
- Master’s degree;
Master’s in nursing preferred. If Master’s is in a related field, a baccalaureate degree in nursing is required. - Current Iowa nursing license and current Iowa ARNP license by time of hire.
- ARNP certification in specialty area of Pediatrics, Family, or Psychiatric Mental Health by time of hire.
- Demonstrated ability to manage care of children and young adults with special health care needs.
- Experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace and with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to function autonomously while working effectively in a team.
- Ability to travel between clinic locations; valid driver’s license and meeting University of Iowa Fleet Safety standards.
- Previous ARNP or nursing experience with children and young adults with special health care needs.
- Management and supervisory experience.
- Experience developing and implementing pediatric care plans and care coordination.
- Experience working with public health programs serving children with special health care needs.
- Public speaking and community outreach experience.
- Knowledge of University of Iowa and University of Iowa Healthcare policies and procedures.
