ROLE
OVERVIEW
This position assists in planning, implementing, and coordinating safety programs to reduce or eliminate occupational illness, deaths and financial losses.
Typical hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM with an rare Saturday.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED equivalent.Minimum 2 years' experience in management of health and safety programs for industry, a regulatory government agency or similar organization or significant operational experience with strong safety focus/record.Must possess a valid state driver's license and have an acceptable driving record.Strong working knowledge of health and safety regulations related to construction materials industry.Working knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheet or presentation software.Working knowledge of construction materials equipment and operations.Significant experience in training.The Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists in planning, implementing, and coordinating safety programs to reduce or eliminate occupational illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.Help identify and appraise conditions that could produce accidents or financial loss.Conducts safety audits/inspections to identify hazards and evaluate loss‑producing potential of given system, operation, or process.Help develop accident‑prevention loss control systems or programs.Ensure implementation of safety activities.Assist in supervisor safety meetings and other team meetings.Understand all federal and state safety regulations OSHA, MSHA, DOT.Assist in conducting incident investigations and incident reviews.Submits and monitors lost‑time injuries/illness and workers compensation claims, general liability claims, auto claims.Prepares and reviews weekly safety meetings.Assists in training managers, supervisors, foreman, and frontline team members on safety policy and procedures.Ensure MSHA, OSHA, DOT regulatory compliance.Schedules and monitors random drug screens and physicals.Be support for field managers in safety.Establish and Maintain Interpersonal Relationships
- Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with other departments, including HR and Management and maintaining them over time.Perform other duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
