We are seeking a reliable, team‑oriented Long‑Term Substitute Kitchen Helper to support our food service team while a permanent staff member is on leave. In this role, you will help prepare and serve meals, support daily kitchen operations, and contribute to a positive dining experience for students and staff.

Responsibilities Food Preparation & Service- Assist with preparing menu items following provided recipes, including simple prep items and baked goods.
- Ensure your assigned station is fully stocked before service.
- Follow serving size guidelines and support special diets as directed.
- Assist with special events and promotions.
- Help maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment.
- Assist with organizing storerooms, coolers, and freezers, using FIFO practices.
- Support dish room and general cleaning duties as needed.
- Complete HACCP logs and follow SOPs required for the position.
- Assist with production records and daily tracking tasks.
- Monitor and follow all safety and food safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with kitchen leadership, team members, school staff, and students.
- Share customer feedback with the FSD/AFSD/Kitchen Manager.
- Report low inventory and operational needs.
- Help with stocking and serving during meal service.
- Assist with freezer pulls and daily prep lists.
- Fill in across various kitchens within the district as needed.
- Support on‑the‑job training for new team members.
Physical Requirements
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting throughout the shift.
- Able to kneel, stoop, squat, and use fine and gross motor skills regularly.
- Exposure to hot/cold temperatures, moisture, and high noise levels.
- Possible exposure to common food allergens and cleaning chemicals.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, organized, and able to follow instructions.
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
- Basic ability to read and follow recipes and convert measurements.
