This position performs routine maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and minor repairs on residential heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. It is a hands-on opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined and interested in developing their skills toward becoming a fully qualified HVAC Technician.
Key Responsibilities- Perform preventive maintenance and seasonal inspections on residential HVAC equipment.
- Replace filters, belts, capacitors, contractors, and thermostats as needed.
- Clean evaporator and condenser coils and condensate drain lines.
- Inspect equipment, identify issues, and report deficiencies.
- Assist experienced technicians with diagnosing and repairing heating and cooling equipment.
- Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and vehicle.
- Follow all safety procedures and established standards.
- Provide professional and courteous service to residents.
- Participate in after-hours emergency/on-call service after completing training.
- High school diploma or GED.
- HVAC or technical training preferred.
- 6 months–1 year of maintenance, construction, or HVAC experience preferred.
- EPA Section 608 Certification preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Basic understanding of heating and cooling systems.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Mechanical aptitude, dependability, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate professionally.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs and work in confined spaces.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, standing, and walking.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Occasional overtime and participation in an on-call rotation after training.
