The Accounting Specialist supports daily accounting and administrative functions for Weller Brothers and affiliated entities. This position is responsible for processing routine financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent internal and external customer service. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and eager to learn accounting processes in a fast-paced, team environment.
Requirements REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIESProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Experience with Quick Books or similar accounting software preferred.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Professional communication skills and customer-focused attitude.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEMust be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma/GED required.
Associate's degree in a relevant field ( e.g., Accounting, Finance, Economics)
Minimum graduating GPA of 3.2
Preferably 0-3 years of experience in a related role
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Team members must be able to perform the following tasks during a typical 8+ hour day.
SEDENTARY WORK :
Lifting up to 10#; occasionally lifting or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers, and small tools. Work essentially involves sitting and is considered sedentary if only a small amount of walking and standing is necessary to carry out duties.
X LIGHT WORK:
Lifting up to 20#, frequently lifting or carrying objects up to 10#. Work is classified light if it requires walking or standing to a significant degree (regardless of weight lifted) or involves sitting most of the time with a degree of pushing and pulling of arm or leg controls.
LIGHT MEDIUM WORK:
Lifting up to 30#; frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 20#.
MEDIUM WORK:
Lifting up to 50#; frequent lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 25#.
LIGHT-HEAVY WORK:
Lifting up to 80#; frequent lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 45#.
HEAVY WORK:
Lifting up 100#; frequent lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 80#.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and competency satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform this job.
Process vendor invoices and verify coding accuracy.
Reconcile credit card transactions and assist with statement reconciliation.
Post customer payments and follow up on past-due accounts as directed.
Assist with issuing purchase orders and resolving billing discrepancies.
Enter data and prepare basic journal entries as assigned.
Support month-end close activities (e.g., reconciliations, reports).
Assist in preparing sales/use tax and excise tax filings.
Maintain organized digital and paper financial records.
Assist customers and team members with accounting-related inquiries.
Set up new customers and projects in company systems.
Support the Controller and accounting team with various projects as needed.
Uphold confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with company policies.
