Job – Building Services Coordinator

This position will be public facing and responsible for greeting and assisting the public coming into the Sioux Falls One‑Stop building by answering their questions, providing directions and information about the building, kiosk management, and assisting other departments. It will also be the professional point of contact for all vendors, 3rd‑party contractors, and other state employees visiting from other parts of the state.

  • Perform assigned professional tasks to facilitate and support One‑Stop building operations and other state requirements.
  • Compile reports, prepare operational documentation, and other information concerning building operations.
  • Schedule travel.
  • Direct the public‑facing representative of the State of South Dakota “One‑Stop” located at the main front public entrance.
  • Provide subject‑matter expert (SME) information, knowledge, and experience dealing with the public and other professionals to give directions to the visiting public and state agency personnel.
  • Facilitate daily mail operations for the entire building.
  • Assist with Fleet management items when necessary.
  • Assist the FAS Building Operations Officer and Director with secretarial duties, including scheduling, clerical items, and reporting requirements for the state.
  • Help develop operational approaches and ideas in communication with the Building Operations Officer and FAS Director.
  • Support customers with check‑in through either the kiosk or the front desk.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The position is anticipated through November 2026.

General Requirements
  • Associate’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience in office secretarial work and duties working with the general public and other professionals daily is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, honesty, friendly positive attitude, sense of urgency, and willingness to serve others.
  • This position requires hands‑on teamwork with multiple state government agencies and contract employees.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Computer software applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, and the ability to learn other computer systems used by state employees.

Skill to:

  • Serve others and provide a positive customer experience for both external and internal customers.
  • Show respect for everyone you interact with.
  • Be a self‑starter, prioritize, and show initiative.
  • Display a friendly, positive can‑do attitude every day.

Ability to:

  • Work with the public, other professionals, and contract employees.
  • Maintain daily communications throughout the building as required, communicating information clearly and concisely.
  • Establish timetables for projects.
  • Follow oral and written instructions.
  • Work with security staff and prioritize urgent matters while staying calm.
  • Direct the activities of others.
  • Deal tactfully with others.
  • Complete delegated tasks.
  • Work effectively with a diverse group of state agency employees and the general public.
