Position Overview

BPI is seeking a Procurement Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations in our Procurement department. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing assigned product categories while overseeing and developing a small team of buyers. This role balances hands-on category management with team leadership, ensuring strong supplier partnerships, disciplined purchasing practices, and alignment with company inventory and margin objectives.

This individual will drive category performance, support strategic sourcing initiatives, and create accountability and consistency within the procurement department. The ideal candidate is both analytically strong and operationally grounded, someone who understands distribution, supplier relationships, and ERP-driven purchasing environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own full purchasing responsibility for assigned product categories and vendors.
  • Develop and execute category strategies aligned with company sales and margin goals.
  • Monitor inventory levels, turns, and service metrics to optimize working capital.
  • Identify new product opportunities and rationalize underperforming SKUs.
  • Build, strengthen, and maintain relationships with key vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships and act as a primary escalation point.
  • Communicate with internal teams to identify and implement improvements.
  • Supervise a small team of direct reports while being an individual contributor that leads through influence.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Degree in Business Administration/Supply Chain Management (preferred) or direct experience in purchasing/buying.
  • Experience working in and maintaining databases using Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills.
  • Exceptional ability to conceptualize large-picture projects and foresee challenges and needs to be addressed.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management capabilities.
