A Brief Overview

Responsible for planning, designing, creating, training and troubleshooting standard and ad hoc population health data retrieval and aggregation tools both within and peripheral to Epic. Responsible for engagement with and support of operations end users. Maintains a working knowledge of Epic Population Health and Value Based Program (VBP) processes and procedures.

What you will do
  • Maintains a high degree of expertise in methods of data retrieval, integration and presentation from multiple data sources, using various tools. (Foundation Reporting, Slicer Dicer, Reporting Workbench, etc.)
  • Participates in meetings to help with identification and evaluation of emerging Avera population health and VBP operational data needs and advises on data driven processes and analysis.
  • Must know the value of data, have an understanding of the underlying architecture of the data and where it is coming from, how to clean and verify accuracy and present information appropriately to the end user.
  • Works closely with Data and Analytics to ensure highest level of security for data at rest, data in motion, and data being processed in compliance with state and federal regulations, healthcare industry standards, IT industry standards, and Avera policies concerning security and data integrity.
  • Designs and produces analysis reports, based on business needs and output requirements specified by appropriate staff, from standard Epic resources and archival systems using appropriate report generation tools.
  • Primary liaison between Data and Analytics department and Operations for data dictionary, troubleshooting, supplemental data needs and data integrity.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the data structure and schema of the population health data tables in use at Avera. (Healthy Planet, RPM, Value Based Analytics, Compass Rose)

Required Education, License/Certification or Work Experience
  • Strong computer skills

  • Bachelor's IT or Business Administration or related field
  • Data retrieval tools/programs
  • 3 years data analysis and validation
