Salary: $90,000 - $140,000 per year

A well-established heavy civil contractor is seeking an experienced Asphalt Estimator to join its preconstruction team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for asphalt paving, grading, roadway improvements, and site development projects. • Prepare detailed cost estimates for asphalt paving, grading, milling, reclamation, and site development projects.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and bid documents to determine project scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, equipment, material, trucking, and subcontractor pricing.
• Prepare conceptual, negotiated, budgetary, and competitive bid estimates.
• Evaluate project risks, constructability concerns, and value engineering opportunities.
• Analyze production rates, crew sizes, equipment utilization, and historical cost data to improve estimating accuracy.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Collaborate with project managers, field operations, and leadership during the bidding process.
• Maintain organized bid documentation and meet proposal deadlines.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and conduct occasional site visits as needed.

• 3+ years of estimating experience within asphalt paving, heavy civil, roadway, or site development construction.
• Strong understanding of asphalt paving operations, grading, and earthwork.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
