OUR OPENING

The Industrial Project Manager leads multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-performance treatment facilities that strengthen our communities. This position manages projects from planning through commissioning, ensuring safety, quality, and client satisfaction while controlling cost and schedule. The PM serves as the primary client interface and internal leader, fostering collaboration across preconstruction, engineering, and field operations to achieve exceptional outcomes.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO AS AN INDUSTRIAL SUPERINTENDENT?
  • Lead daily field operations on water/wastewater projects ranging from $5M-$100M
  • Develop short-interval schedules tied to commissioning milestones and process equipment deliveries
  • Coordinate excavation, shoring, structural concrete, process piping, and yard piping sequences
  • Work with design engineers to interpret P&IDs, flow diagrams, and mechanical layouts
  • Manage equipment setting and precision alignment for clarifiers, blowers, pumps, mixers, and other treatment components
  • Oversee subcontractor scopes including electrical, I&C, HVAC, coatings, and specialty process suppliers
  • Lead a 'Zero-Injury' safety culture-conduct daily Job Safety Analyses and weekly toolbox talks
  • Enforce confined-space, trenching, rigging, and lock-out/tag-out procedures per OSHA 1926 Subpart Y
  • Implement quality control plans specific to structural concrete, coating systems, and pipe pressure testing
  • Witness startup, testing, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical systems alongside OEM reps
  • Maintain redlines and as-builts reflecting actual field installation for owner turnover
  • Conduct daily coordination meetings with foremen and subcontractors to align manpower and sequencing
  • Maintain detailed daily reports tracking manpower, equipment hours, quantities placed, and safety observations
  • Mentor field engineers, foremen, and craft workers; build a high-performing, cohesive field team
Requirements EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIRED
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 7-12 years of progressive field supervision in water/wastewater treatment facility, manufacturing, or food & beverage industries
  • Proven leadership of self-perform concrete and piping crews
  • Experience managing subcontractors in electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation trades
  • Familiarity with startup, commissioning, and punch-list closure for process systems
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES NEEDED
  • Deep understanding of water/wastewater treatment processes and the interaction of civil, mechanical, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and coordinate P&IDs, shop drawings, and structural details
  • Strong planning and sequencing abilities for equipment installations, pipe runs, and shutdown coordination
  • Skilled in field documentation, RFIs, and coordination with design engineers
  • Proficient with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office
  • Able to embrace Journey Group's core values

  • Able to think independently, problem solve, and maintain a high degree of professionalism
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to regional job sites
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Primarily field-based on active construction sites and operating plants
  • Regular exposure to outdoor conditions, noise, and process-related hazards
  • Must be able to consistently move about on foot, particularly on job sites with unfinished and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to inspect details at close range, interact, communicate, and exchange accurate information consistently
  • Must be able to retain a stationary position for extended periods of time occasionally depending on the task
  • Must be able to transfer materials ranging from the ground to overhead, up to 50 lbs., frequently
  • Must be able to safely use hand and power tools
  • Periodic travel required for multi-site project support
