• Promote the mission of Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools
• Read new material and prepares cuttings in the seven oral interpretation competitive categories
• Helps students prepare introductions for their interpretation selections
• Schedules coaching sessions for all competitive interpreters based upon their availability
• Organizes registration for competitive oral interpretation team for up to 14 SDHSAA sanctioned tournaments per school year
• Attend SDHSAA rules meetings
• Arranges transportation to all out of town tournaments in accordance with Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools policies and procedures
• Arranges lodging and room assignments for the oral interpretation team for tournament where an overnight stay is required
• Monitors and chaperones all overnight stay in accordance with Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools policies and procedures
• Monitors individual student behavior of team members to meet acceptable standards of courtesy and sportsmanship reflective of the best traditions of the activity
• Helps oral interpretation team members dress effectively and appropriately for competition
• Maintains financial accounts of all expenditures
• Prepares the team for competition in the National Forensic League Tournament
• Maintains a close relationship with the competitor’s families
• Organizes and hosts the end of the year oral interpretation banquet
• Keeps a well-organized library and/or file of all past oral interpretation selections
• Keeps an individual record of all NFL points earned during a student’s oral interpretation career at O’Gorman High School
• To commit time to find selections and one on one coaching of interpreters
• Judge interpretation and other forensic events at tournaments attended
• Perform other duties as assigned by the activities director and/or principal
• Perform various duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree with SD teaching certification

• Degree in theatre and/or communication studies or coursework in either theatre or communication
• Training or experience in oral interpretation coaching techniques
• Extensive knowledge in dramatic literature, all forms of prose, poetry and non-fiction
• Organizational skills to organize competitive travel
• Familiarity with all rules governing oral interpretation competition and National Forensic League (NFL) interpretation rules
• Willingness and ability to act as an outstanding personal witness to the Catholic faith and religion by living both one’s professional and personal life in accordance with the doctrines and moral teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, as embodied in the various documents of the Roman Catholic Church, including, without limitation, the Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church
• Willingness and ability to effectively make known the Catholic Church’s teachings through the varied ministry activities expected of this position
