General Position Summary
Doctoral committee members provide guidance, support, and scholarly expertise to EdD students as they design and complete their doctoral dissertations in practice. Committee members may serve in one of several roles-Chair, Practitioner, or Second Reader-depending on their experience and the program's needs. These appointments are made on a per-student basis and are typically renewed as projects progress through proposal, research, and final defense phases.
Requirements

- Master's degree or equivalent professional experience (required for Practitioner role)
- Demonstrated expertise in leadership, education, research, or a related discipline
- Commitment to mentoring doctoral candidates and upholding academic and ethical standards
- Alignment with the mission of the University of Sioux Falls and the integration of faith and learning within a Christian liberal arts environment
- Ability to successfully pass a required background check
If a USF representative has asked you to complete this step, please watch your email for instructions and requests from USF HR/Payroll - usfpayroll.
You will receive an email from our third-party vendor (on behalf of USF HR/Payroll) with a link to complete your background check.
The background check must be completed and approved before your appointment is finalized.
To expedite processing, please upload the following items as soon as possible (you may submit them while your background check is in progress):
- Current Curriculum Vitae (CV) or résumé
- Please download the W9, fill it out, and upload it. (IRS W-9)
- Please reach out to your latest University and have them send your latest transcripts to usfpayroll. Or they can be mailed to USF Human Resources - Payroll, 1101 W 22nd St, Sioux Falls, SD 57105
