RequirementsTwo years of post high school education or higher, or be able to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota, for designated Education Assistant positions.
- At least one year of work experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills and knowledge of strategies to support students with social, emotional, and behavior needs.
- Experience with behavior management.
- Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
Requires constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination, hearing, frequent bending over, crouching, reaching, removing, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, threading, turning, and walking. Frequent carrying, grasping, holding, lifting, opening, pulling, unfolding and unlocking are also required. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
Essential Functions & Duties- Escorts students to transportation and other areas of the building.
- Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, physical management) as needed.
- Provides review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups in special education classroom and/or regular classroom.
- Works with students in schools and on community outings.
- Prepares instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
- Prepares instructional/behavioral objectives.
- Provides clerical assistance to maintain student records (charting, assignments, attendance, data for progress notes).
- Assists with the supervision of students during recess, lunchroom, and on the playground.
- Maintains the confidentiality of students and their families.
- Reinforces instructional and behavioral objectives for children.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Starting at $18.42 per hour.
Pay Day:
Last working day of each month, based on the payroll cutoff schedule.
Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a 30 minute unpaid lunch.
0.78125 FTE, 31.25 hours per week, 9 months.
