Education Level: Two years of post‑high school education or higher, or the ability to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota, for designated Education Assistant positions.

Experience Desired: At least one year of work experience requiring interpersonal interaction skills and knowledge of strategies to support students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Physical Requirements: Requires constant hand‑eye and mind‑eye coordination, hearing, frequent bending, crouching, reaching, speaking, standing, stooping, threading, turning, and walking. Frequent carrying, grasping, holding, lifting, opening, pulling, unfolding, unlocking, and ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

Other Requirements: Experience with behavior management.

• Escorts students to transportation and other areas of the building.
• Provides personal care to students with special daily living needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, physical management).
• Reviews and practices skills taught by a teacher with students one‑to‑one and in small groups in special education or regular classroom settings.
• Works with students in schools and on community outings.
• Prepares instructional materials as directed or selected by a teacher.
• Reinforces instructional and behavioral objectives.
• Assists with clerical duties to maintain student records (charting, assignments, attendance, data for progress notes).
• Supervises students during recess, lunchroom, and playground.
• Maintains the confidentiality of students and their families.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Starting at $18.42 per hour. Pay day is the last working day of each month, based on the payroll cutoff schedule.

Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 3:15 pm with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch. 0.875 FTE, 35 hours per week, 9 months.

Benefits are available for positions 20 hours per week or more.
