Education Level: Two years of post high school education or higher, or the ability to pass a standardized test approved by the state of South Dakota for designated Education Assistant positions.

Experience Desired: At least one year of work experience in a position requiring interpersonal interaction skills and knowledge of strategies to support students with social, emotional, and behavior needs.

Physical Requirements: Requires constant hand-eye coordination, hearing, frequent bending, crouching, reaching, speaking, standing, stooping, walking, carrying, grasping, holding, lifting, opening, pulling, unfolding, unlocking. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally.

Other Requirements: Experience with behavior management.

• Escort students to transportation and other areas of the building.
• Provide personal care to students with special daily living needs (e.g., toileting, feeding, physical management).
• Provide review and practice of skills taught by a teacher with students 1:1 and in small groups in special education classroom and/or regular classroom.
• Work with students in schools and on community outings.
• Prepare instructional materials as directed/selected by teacher.
• Reinforce instructional and behavioral objectives.
• Provide clerical assistance to maintain student records (charting, assignments, attendance, data for progress notes).
• Assist with the supervision of students during recess, lunchroom, and on the playground.
• Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Starting at $18.42 per hour. $1,000 Sign-On Bonus available.

Pay Day:
Last working day of each month, based on the payroll cutoff schedule.

Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. 0.875 FTE, 35 hours per week, 9 months.

Benefits available for positions 20 hours per week or more. Post-Offer Criminal Background Check Required.
