(Resources & Education for Adolescents Choosing Healthy Behaviors)
Seeks an Intern and advocate for educating adolescents and encouraging healthy relationship skills.
If you have an interest in helping young people to attain healthy relationships and lifestyles.
HOURS: Varies per internship requirement, typically Monday through Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
SALARY: Dependent on experience and qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES: LSS REACH (Resources and Education for Adolescents Choosing Healthy Behaviors) and the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) support the South Dakota Department of Health and at-risk youth throughout South Dakota to reduce the risk of unplanned teen pregnancy, and the spread of STD and HIV. The program promotes and provides education of abstinence, healthy lifestyles, healthy relationships, and healthy adolescent development.
Intern will assist in coordination and facilitation of classroom sessions for youth, ages 10-19. The REACH Intern will be trained in several evidence-based curricula and facilitate staff training throughout the state as needed and will assist in hosting an annual Positive Youth Development staff conference. Intern will establish and maintain relationships with partners to coordinate and implement training programs, completing outreach to increase the implementation of REACH statewide.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in a college program requiring an internship, which is required.
- Be at least 20 years old and willing to complete agency background checks.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license or obtain one with approved driver status.
- Must successfully complete all agency background checks, which include checks to detect criminal convictions of behavior harmful towards children, spousal abuse, and drug or sex crimes.
