The Long-Term Preschool Substitute Teacher provides consistent classroom support during an extended staff absence. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children while following established curriculum plans, classroom routines, and licensing requirements. The substitute works collaboratively with preschool staff, families, and leadership to ensure continuity of care and educational experiences.
- Lead daily preschool classroom activities and routines in the absence of the regular teacher
- Implement lesson plans and educational activities that support early childhood development
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment
- Supervise children to ensure safety and appropriate behavior at all times
- Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
- Maintain classroom organization, cleanliness, and required documentation
- Communicate professionally with parents, caregivers, and staff regarding daily activities and student needs
- Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety procedures, and organizational policies
- Collaborate with preschool team members to ensure smooth daily operations
- Assist with snack time, restroom routines, transitions, and other classroom needs
Qualifications
- Experience working with preschool-aged children preferred
- Knowledge of early childhood development and classroom management practices
- Ability to maintain a structured and engaging learning environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Ability to pass required background checks
Physical Requirements
- Ability to actively engage with young children throughout the day
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 30 pounds
- Ability to supervise indoor and outdoor activities
Schedule & Terms
- Temporary long‑term substitute position
- Schedule may vary based on program needs
- Expected to maintain reliable attendance throughout assignment period
